How to create password protect folders on Mac OS X?

Step 1: First of all download and install the trial version of Folder Lock by following this link .

Step 2: Now select the drive or folder that you want to lock with a password protection. Right-click it, then choose Encrypt option from the pop-up menu. You can also go through File -> Add to add files/folders to encrypt. And finally click ‘Lock’ button at the top-left corner to begin the encryption process.

Step 3: Now you need to set a password for encrypting files in that particular folder or drive. Enter the password in ‘Password’ box, then reenter it in ‘Re-type Password’ box below.

Step 4: Finally click on ‘OK’ button to begin password protection of folders/files. Folder Lock will display a lock icon  in the System Tray for added convenience. To unlock folders or drives, simply right-click this icon and choose Unlock option from there.

You can also protect your files via password-protecting USB Flash Drive or a CD/DVD.

Note: Folder Lock works with the following file systems: HFS+, HFSX, FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32.
