Are you worried about getting sick?

Even with the vaccination drives all over the world, the current health crisis is yet far from over. The new variant is making its way to different shores, posing more threat to the population than its predecessors.

It’s why people panic when they get sick. However, common illnesses are still around.

Before you assume anything, learn what to do when you feel sick. Read on and get better soon:

Know Your Symptoms

Your symptoms determine what to do when you feel sick. Unfortunately, the common cold and flu share many symptoms with COVID-19, like:

  • Fever
  • Drowsiness
  • Coughing
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Stuffy nose
  • Watery eyes
  • Muscle aches
  • Vomiting or diarrhea

You may have to take a test to determine your illness. Even if you don’t have these symptoms and you’re feeling unwell, follow our tips below.

Rest and Quarantine

If you have the symptoms above, stay put in your house or room until you feel better. Call in sick from work, skip school, and cancel plans of going out. It allows you to focus on healing while preventing others from catching it as well.

Skip your workout. Exercising in a weakened state does more harm than good. Give your body a rest, especially if you have signs of a fever.

Inform Your Friends and Family

Inform your friends, family, and anyone you interacted with recently. They may have to quarantine themselves even if they have no symptoms.

Ask for help if you can’t take care of yourself. When you’re alone, you can’t buy food outside unless you use online shopping apps. Still, letting someone know will ensure at least one person would check up on you when things get worse.

Eat the Right Food

Stick to healthy, easy-to-digest food items. Chicken soup and other broths are a no-brainer.

Load up on vitamin C and other nutrients with fruits and boiled vegetables. Avoid raw vegetables as these can irritate the bowels instead. Drink lots of water and avoid caffeine, dairy, and alcohol in the meantime.

Know When to Call Your Doctor

For mild symptoms, you don’t have to go to the hospital or call your doctor. Instead, get plenty of rest and water.

If you have worsening symptoms, call your doctor. They will advise you to take a test if applicable. You can still stay in quarantine with an in home COVID test.

However, if you’re experiencing the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Chest pain
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Severe vomiting
  • Worsening fever
  • Confusion

Skip the doctor and go to the emergency room instead. You might be in grave danger if you ignore them.
